Welcome to the B.T.E. (Best Teacher Ever!) blog! I hope each of you that visit find something that you can create and use in your own classroom!
By the way- the name of the blog in 'tongue-in-cheek'. It comes from a student, and we've all had that student- the one that makes it ALL worthwhile by proclaiming, "You're the Best Teacher Ever!" Because that is the student who lets you know that you have made a difference. You may not be the best teacher in the whole wide world, but you are a positive influence in his or her whole world. And that's what matters.
Teaching is becoming an increasingly difficult profession, and my goal is to help other teachers to ease their load with tips, tricks, and 'hacks' that I have discovered or thought of myself over the years.
A little about me: I teach in a mixed NCPK/Title I classroom in Eastern North Carolina. My students are 4's and 5's, but many of the things I will share will span the age groups easily. I have been a Pre-K teacher for 12 years in a public school setting. I currently use Creative Curriculum/Teaching Strategies and Foundations. I have taught workshops in the Eastern NC area for several years now; most on making materials for your classroom that support math, literacy, fine motor, and gross motor.
I'm a hoarder who never throws out good trash! In a world where classroom funding is limited at best, and student needs are high, I find that it is easier, cheaper, and BETTER to make my own materials. Then I KNOW that they meet my classroom needs and my students' individual needs.
Enjoy!
